The capital of the Savoy family since the mid-16th century, Turin briefly served as the seat of the national parliament after unification and was the birthplace of Italian industry.

One might say that Turin is the most beautiful of the lesser-known Italian cities (or the least-known of the most beautiful Italian cities). And therefore, perhaps, the most surprising of all.
